Hosted by: Kathy and Katie

Notes:

Some terms:

  • IPA: India Pale Ale
  • Hoppy beer styhle. The term pale ale originally denoted an ale that had been brewed from pale malt.
  • East Coast IPAs are distinguished from West Coast IPAs by a stronger malt presence which balances the intensity of the hops whereas the latter foreground the hops more, possibly because of the proximity of West Coast breweries to hop fields in the Pacific Northwest. East Coast breweries realy more on spicier European hops and speciality malts than those on the West Coast.
  • Quadrupel is the brand name of a strong seasonal beer.
  • Weissbier: Wheat beer.
  • Stouit: Dark beer, roasted malt.
  • Kolsch: Warm fermented, less bitter and less hoppy, yellow hue.
  • Belgian Abbey Ale: Thought to be the world's greatest beer (????)
  • Porter: dark descended from brown beer, well hopped from malt.
